Lorina May Beal

Lorina May Beal

Lorina May Beal of Moncton, NB passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the age of 103. Born in Shemogue on July 8, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Thaddy and Odile (Devarrene) Melanson.

Lorina was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Riverview. Lorina lived a long happy life and she showed it by always having a smile for everyone. She worked diligently for years alongside her first husband. After his passing in 1996 she met and married her second husband in 1997. In her later years she filled her time by making quilts, knitting dishcloths and scarves. Even after entering the care home she always had a knitting project on the go. Her mind was sharp and she did not require any medication which was quite surprising to everyone, even her doctor. She loved playing bingo at Residence Aventure Care Home and won quite often, she was also an avid dancer who enjoyed round and square dancing.

Survived by 6 stepchildren, Oakley (Barbara) Beal, Enid (Alvin) Fram, Arthur (Lynda) Beal, Gurney (Leta) Beal, Raymond (Beth) Beal, Reginald (Linda) Beal all of Moncton surrounding area, also by many nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her 1st husband, James Brine in 1996 and her 2nd husband, Earl L. Beal in 2009; 7 sisters, Lucy, Emma, Bella, Mary, Fannie, Minnie and Dora; 5 brothers who died in infancy.

Respecting Lorina's wishes there will not be any visitation held, a private graveside service will be held at St. Timothée de Shemogue Parish Cemetery on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses on 4600 of the Moncton Hospital for their excellent care during Lorina's short time there.
