On the 4th of January 2023, our beloved father, Donald Edward
McQuinn slipped the surly bonds of earth to take his final
flight.
Dad was a former RCAF/RAF pilot, serving in Canada
and England.
He was lucky to have held an illustrious career in
aviation. After the Air Force, he worked in the federal government as
a Canada Aviation inspector, Superintendent of Air
Regulations for Atlantic Canada. Regional Director of Aviation
Licensing, and briefly as Acting Chief of Aviation Licensing for
Canada in Ottawa. He was a former Commanding Officer
of 650 Vanier Air Cadet Squadron of which he was especially
proud.
He loved being with family and friends and regaling
us with stories of his flying adventures. He enjoyed a smooth scotch,
a good book, listening to jazz, and watching favourite shows like
Columbo, Star Trek and Formula 1 racing. He loved foreign
cars, especially his Jaguar. He looked forward to summers on the beach
watching the sailboats, listening to the waves, and eating lobster,
dripping with melted butter and sipping an icy cold glass of white
wine.
He is predeceased by his wife, Joanne (London)
sister Marie LeBlanc, brother Everett, and granddaughter, Lauren. He
is survived by son, Andrew, and daughters, Nancy, of Victoria, and
Christina of Fredericton, as well as grandsons, Connor, Kevin. and
Alex. His surviving sister is Lois (Kent) Wallace from
Calgary.
He will also be missed by his companion, Doreen
Johnson, her daughter, Kimberley, and husband Craig
Celebration of life will be held at the Royal Air
Force Vets Club on Sunday, January 15 from 1 to 3 PM at 494
St. George Street Moncton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his
name to Kidney
Foundation and the Diabetes
Association.
