Peter J. Nowlan, 87, of Riverview, NB passed away at his
residence, with his wife by his side, in Riverview on Friday, May 19,
2023. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Barbara
Nowlan.
Peter is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty (Elizabeth
Ann) Nowlan; children Paul of Ottawa, Michael
(Lori) of Calgary, Simone MacPhail (Scott) of Fredericton, Peter
(Julie) of Fredericton, and Sean (Gail) of Calgary; predeceased by
Pierrette; grandchildren Alexandra, Megan, Sarah, Matt,
Joshua, and Claire; great-grandchildren Prescott and
Paxton; and his sister Dorilla of
Dieppe.
Honouring Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place and there
will be no service.
Donations in Peter's memory may be made to the Friends of the
Moncton Hospital.
The family thanks the nurses of the New Brunswick Extramural
Program for their understanding and compassion.
Peter served in the RCAF for four years, and then worked as
an air traffic controller for 30 years in Gander, NL, and in Ottawa,
and completed his career as Operations Manager at the Moncton Area
Control Center.
He is remembered as a kind and gentle man who always had a
new and interesting story to tell about his life and adventures. He
owned a Tiger Moth biplane that he flew across the English channel, he
met the Queen of the Netherlands, and he once won a
sportscar in a poker game.
He will be missed terribly, and be in our hearts
forever.
